MYKONOSSSSS

We love Mykonos! The island is such a vibe. Great food, beautiful beaches, quiet in the morning for exploring the town and photo opportunities and comes alive as the day goes on well into the night.

FIVE NIGHTS IN MYKONOS

Accomodation.
I kind of wanted the best of everything with our accomodation – average priced, close to town with a view of the ocean. We booked Rochari Hotel. I do wish I splurged a little more and got us some better accomodation but it was ok. The room and bathroom was small but the balcony looking over rooftops out onto the ocean, getting a beautiful sunset view was the highlight but the space could have been utilised more with better outdoor furniture and been more presentable so we could sit out there for longer. We didn’t actually use the hotel pool or gym during our stay as we were kept pretty busy outside of the hotel. It seemed to be a very gay friendly hotel as I didn’t notice many other straight couples among us. And the breakfast buffet was just ok. There is an awesome laundromat up the road though that did a big bag of our washing for 15euros overnight and on our last day did another bag in a few hours for 30euros.
The location of the hotel was good, a 5 minute walk downhill into town. Easy to get around. We also hired a quad bike from just a few meters down the road and had free gated parking at the hotel.

Food.
Bowl Cafe. Australian owned cafe. We ate here multiple times and loved it! Breakfast bowls, smoothie bowls, salad bowls, toast, juices, smoothies, coffees, iced drinks… the list goes on. Also had vegemite toast!
Platis Souvlaki. We stumbled across this place after being at the beach and wanting something to eat and how lucky that we did! It was new when we ate there, pretty unknown and a bit random but it was hands down the BEST souvlaki/gyros we had on the island! Super cheap, delicious food, friendly staff, perfect after swimming at the beach.
Souvlaki Story. Theres a few of these around town. Good to grab some quick greek comfort food. We ate here a few times & it pulled through with the takeaway on our hungover day!
The Garden Mykonos. We met our friends here for sunset drinks and ordered some food off their menu too. Really cool vibes! Think, rattan furniture and hanging lanterns looking out onto the ocean at the sunset. We were sat on a low table with cushions on the floor and had the company of some cats too!
Mamalouka. I saw this restaurant on social media and put it on my list. The beautiful entranceway is framed by the classic pink bougainvillea and following the cobble stones into the outdoor seating area thats under more of the pink flowers and trees with hanging lanterns and fairy lights. We had dinner with a group of our friends here and really enjoyed it. The food was delicious and served in pretty large portions and the cocktails were big too.
Kastros. You may have seen the famous alleyway of Kastros on social media. White cobble stoned path leading down to the ocean. We came here in the evening to actually see the alleyway and take in the view of the windmills and sunset from this restaurant but they actually had a table available and we got seated for dinner. I think I just got a salad from there as I wasn’t too hungry but it was good and you pay for the view as well! There are a couple of tables that are on little balconies over the ocean and you get the best view x100 from there but their website says they don’t reserve certain tables, first in first served for reservations. But those are the golden ticket tables! Get out there if you can!

Recommendations.
Definitely hire a quad bike/ATV for your stay – and get a big one! Its hilly in Mykonos and you’ll want to explore your surroundings and get to the beaches.
Take your time walking all through the town and Little Venice. Every corner is beautiful and there are lots of shops and boutiques to look in.
Book yourself a table or visit a beach club for a day or night party. We were with some friends and went from 4pm until like 1am and it was a fun time!
The beaches we went to were; Ornos, Nammos/Psaru [our fave] and a beach on the east of the island that I can’t remember the name of. There are day beds to hire at all of them but you can also just lay your towel on the sand and swim if you’re beach hopping for the day or not planning on staying long.
Theres a luxury shopping boutique just outside Nammos beach club thats worth a browse. Super cute aesthetic set up!

We spent the week in Mykonos amongst 4 friends and we had the best time! Theres so much to do and see and the island as a whole just has a good feeling about it. There were a few beach clubs and beaches on my list that I didn’t get too but everything we did do was 10/10.
